The Ambassadors

Painted in 1533 The Ambassadors portrays Jean de Dinteville, a French diplomat and Georges de Selve, a French scholar, diplomat and ecclesiastic. As well as being a double portrait, the painting contains a selection of scientific instruments. It incorporates one of the best-known examples of anamorphosis in painting. The Ambassadors has been part of London’s National Gallery collection.
