Jurij Šubic (born 13 April 1855) was a Slovenian painter hailing from Poljane nad Škofja Loka, Slovenia, and he passed away on 8 September 1890 in Leipzig, Germany.
He came from a family with a rich artistic heritage, as the son of Slovenian painter Štefan Šubic and brother to Janez Šubic. The Šubic family, rooted in the Poljane Valley, included several generations of artists, including painters and architects like Vladimir Šubic, known for his work on the Skyscraper.
Jurij Šubic is recognized as the first Slovenian painter significantly influenced by French art. During his time in Normandy and Paris, he immersed himself in plein air painting and explored the nuances of natural light in his work.
